Droplets: Taken with my Nikon N65 on a cloudy day.

I’m a computer nerd in living in Massachusetts and this is my blog. I have a B.S. in Computer Science from UMass Amherst. I work for Mount Holyoke College doing various things online.

Projects and Hobbies

I have a lot of hobbies. One might say I have HADD: Hobby Attention Deficit Disorder because I’m all over the map in terms of interests. I like to make things, both physically with tools like saws and hammers, and virtually with programming languages. See my projects page for some of the things I’ve done and things I’m working on.

I take a lot of pictures. Just take a look at my photos. I now shoot with a Nikon D90. I once had a D70s, but that was stolen. The first digital camera I used was a 3.3 megapixel Sony DSC-F505v.

A Nikon N65 SLR is what I use if I shoot film. I like to use slide film, but I’ve used print film in the past as well. I also have a Pentax K1000. It’s fully manual, and the only electronic part on it is the light-meter, which is a little needle that points up or down, that helps you pick a good aperture and shutter speed. I have 128mm, 50mm and 28mm lenses for it.

A Nikon Coolscan V ED film scanner helps me put photos from my film cameras up online. It scans print film negatives and slides at 4000dpi. That’s equivalent to a 12 megapixel digital camera!

I have a 2006 Jamis Nova Cyclocross bike. I also keep track of how far and fast I ride. To track those statistics, I created a plugin for WordPress called CycloPress.
